Hill Farming Heritage

Life on the Land

Crawfordjohn’s story is closely tied to farming, shepherding and the rhythms of rural working life. Generations of local families lived and worked among the hills, caring for sheep, tending the land and adapting to the demands of weather, season and landscape.

From heavy woollen clothing and nailed boots to shepherd’s crooks and everyday farm tools, the museum helps preserve the practical objects and stories of this hill farming community.
